About Rose Hypnotherapy & HypnoBirthing - Bourne Calm
Hi, my name is Rose of Bourne Calm (bournecalm.com & rose@bournecalm.com) and I provide the longest-running Hypnobirthing service in East Dorset. I teach expectant couples & also train others to do the same. I’ve been teaching this calm, positive, empowering, life-changing birth preparation method since 2010. I set out to do this as, when I was pregnant in 2006-7, there was nobody offering this service. When I found out firsthand just how amazing it was, I wanted to share it with the world (or at least my little part of the world here in South Dorset).
So, I’m a Hypnobirthing mum to an 15-year-old & a clinical hypnotherapist specialising in Hypnobirthing. I’m also the founder of The Rose Methid where I train & mentor others who want to start their own Hypnobirthing business.
When I was pregnant I was very scared about the prospect of giving birth.
Then I read a truly inspiring hypnobirth story by fellow Hypnobirthing practitioner, Callie Copeman.
I knew there & then that I wanted some of whatever she’d had.
The problem was that when I attempted to find out what was available to me locally in Bournemouth or Poole, I couldn’t find a practitioner anywhere in the whole of Dorset.
I reached out to a lady called Katharine Graves in Wiltshire (whose method, KGH, my classes are now based on).
Katharine taught me whilst she was a Mongan Method teacher.
She taught me that my body knew what to do & that all that was required of me was to trust my body AND RELAX... Eek, alarm bells! How would I be able to relax?
Well, Katharine had that covered too - exceptionally well as it happens! I learned, practised and successfully used breathing, visualisation & anchoring techniques to get and keep my mind and body in a wonderfully calm state throughout the rest of my pregnancy and my 20-hour positive labour & birth experience.
The midwives thought they were going to have to send me home when I arrived at the birthing centre - then they examined me to find, to their amazement, that my cervix had opened to 8cm already. Yay!
They were shocked and said, "Sorry, we’re not used to this. Just keep doing whatever it is you are doing."
Already, just days after my daughter was born, I wanted to raise awareness of Hypnobirthing, telling everyone about it and then, when Orla was 20 months old, I started my hypnotherapy diploma and in 2010 I passed with distinction and also qualified as a Hypnobirthing practitioner.
Today, I am experienced in teaching The Mongan Method, The Wise Hippo and KG Hypnobirthing. I have taught between 300 & 400 expectant mums / couples with all sorts of wonderful personalities and backgrounds.
I have worked with excited, yet anxious women who were about to become mothers for the first time. I have taught second-time, third-time & even fourth-time mothers who were seeking a different way to approach labour & birth this time around because of traumatic previous birth experience/s.
I’ve taught couples expecting twins and also a couple expecting triplets.
I have worked with single mums - sometimes single by choice & sometimes not.
I have worked with same-sex couples.
I have worked with expectant couples where one, sometimes both, are medical doctors and want to learn that birth is mostly straightforward and not the complicated, life-risking way they have learnt about it in medical school.
Parents have come back to me to do a refresher course to get ready for their next baby’s birth - in fact, I have also taught one lady for her first, second and third births! That makes me realise just how long I’ve been teaching Hypnobirthing. But it’s also a great testimony of how effective my course is - people are coming back.
Hypnobirthing is about staying calm whatever course your birthing might take.
Hypnobirthing is a full antenatal course which provides you with information & knowledge to help you make informed decisions during your pregnancy, labour & birth.
I love my job so much that I forget it is work.
I love helping people prepare to bring their new little baby / babies into the world.
I teach in small groups / one-to-one in the summer house at the bottom of my garden (heated in winter, cool & airy in summer). I also teach one-to-one in the comfort of my clients’ own homes.
I offer Hypnobirthing Holidays to couples outside of the area who like the idea of combining a few days by the seaside with their antenatal preparation.
Get in-touch today if you would like to attend one of my ONE-HOUR TASTER sessions (investment of £5 per person which is refunded when a full course is booked), receive a testimonials leaflet & / or further info about my Hypnobirthing courses.
